Stop Payment Release and Indemnity
I have instructed First Calgary Financial to stop payment of a cheque drawn on my account, particulars of which I have provided online. These instructions will become effective on the date I have electronically authorized this form. If the cheque has already cleared my account, the stop payment cannot be placed.
I acknowledge that First Calgary Financial will make every reasonable effort to effect the instructions given, but will not be liable to me or any other person by reason of complying with, or failing to comply with, the instructions for any reason. A stop payment request does not guarantee fulfillment.
I agree to indemnify First Calgary Financial against all liability and expenses (including legal costs on a solicitor and own client full indemnity basis) First Calgary Financial may incur in complying with these instructions.
In confirming below, I acknowledge and agree that even though a stop payment has been placed, I continue to have certain responsibilities in relation to the payment in question, and I am liable to any Holder as defined under the Bills of Exchange Act. The stop payment will also be subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Canadian Payments Association.
I hereby confirm that I have reviewed my account activity and the cheque identified in the stop payment order has not cleared the account.
Stop payment cannot be placed on a cheque if the payee is blank or payable to "Cash" or "Bearer" or if the amount is left blank.
Please note that a stop payment cannot be performed online for the following items and that the ACCOUNT SIGNER must contact the branch or Contact Centre for assistance. Contact Centre, 403-520-8000, representatives are available Monday-Friday 8am – 8pm MST.
- Pre-authorized payments or debits
- Lost cheques
- Stolen cheques
- Requests to stop a range of cheques
- Stop payments on US cheques
These instructions will remain in effect from today's date until one year past the cheque issue date that I have provided, unless I advise First Calgary Financial in writing.
If you agree, a stop payment service charge of $15.00 will be applied.
If you do not agree, we will be unable to process your request and no changes will be made.
