Our commitment to you

We are committed to protecting the security of your account information when you bank online, and utilize extensive security features to ensure you can conduct your banking in a safe and private online environment. • Only the correct Personal Access Code (PAC) selected by you can provide access to your account information.
• We use 128-bit encryption to 'scramble' data sent to us by your browser into a secure, unreadable format that is safely received by our secure systems. With encryption, information in transit between your computer and our server cannot be read or changed.
• Some browsers can create a more secure channel than others due to the strength of their encryption. We only use the strongest channel available referred to as 128 bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL). If you have a browser that only supports versions weaker than 128 bit encryption, you will need to upgrade your browser before using our site.
• We use a "cookie" to maintain a connection with you. A cookie is a small amount of information, stored on your computer in an encrypted form that is intermittently sent to and from our server. It enables us to ensure that each request for information really came from you and that we deliver the information only to you.
• The cookie also provides the information we need to automatically end your session if there has been no activity for a period of time. To restart your session, you need to provide your unique user ID and PAC again.
• We have firewalls to prevent unauthorized access to our internal systems. Data coming to us from your computers via the Internet goes through a series of safety check points so that only authorized messages and transactions enter our computer systems.
• We ensure your personal and financial information is protected within our in-house member service, financial systems, and databases.
• Our computer hardware and telecommunications systems are physically secured.

What you can do

While we are doing all we can to safeguard your information, there are also important measures you can take to protect yourself when you bank online. Here are some valuable tips to boost your security when using cu@work^TM.

• To ensure a safe and secure Internet session, only visit reputable sites. If you visit any questionable web sites before entering the cu@work^TM web site, we recommend you close and restart your browser before going to cu@work^TM. Never leave your computer unattended while using our cu@work^TM.
• Always exit cu@work^TM using the logout button and close your browser if you step away from your computer. Your browser may retain information you entered in the login screen and elsewhere until you exit the browser.
• Prevent the browser from caching (storing) the pages that you view by using the enhanced security feature located on the login screen. We strongly recommend that you use this feature if you are accessing the cu@work^TM site from a shared computer, such as at a friend's house or through a publicly-accessible computer, such as at a library or airport.
• Secure or erase files stored on your computer by your browser so others cannot read them. Most browsers store information in non-protected (unencrypted) files in the browser's cache to improve performance. These files remain there until erased. Use standard computer utilities or by using your browser feature to empty the cache.
• Do not use automatic password-save features in the browsers or software you use to access the Internet.
• Install and use a quality anti-virus program. As new viruses are created constantly, be sure to update your anti-virus program often.
• Install and use a personal firewall on your computer to ensure others cannot access your computer through the Internet.
• Install new security patches as soon as your operating system and Internet browser manufacturers make them available.
• Contact your Assiniboine Credit Union Representative immediately if you believe there are errors or omissions in your account.

Protect Your Personal Access Code (PAC)

Your PAC is your key to online services. Just as the key to your home protects you from unwanted intruders, your PAC ensures that only you can access your accounts. It's very important to safeguard your PAC at all times. Your password must be a minimum 8 digit alpha-numeric password known only to you. These passwords are case sensitive, so every time you log in, you will have to enter it exactly the way you initially set it up. Here are some useful tips to keep your PAC secure:

• Do not select a PAC that is easy to guess (such as sequences like 12345678, aa11bb22cc) or is based on personal information (birth date, address, phone number, social insurance number. etc.)
• Do not use common words found in the dictionary
• Use at least one special character in your password (i.e. ~ > or *)
• Do not select a part of your PIN or another password
• Keep your PAC confidential. Do not write your PAC down or store it in a file on your computer. DonÕt share your PAC with anyone.
• Never disclose your PAC in voicemail or email, and do not disclose it over the phone, especially cellular phones. For security reasons, your PAC is mailed in a separate mailing and you are prompted to change your password on your first sign in.
• Do not permit anyone to observe you typing in your PAC.
• Lock or log off the computer when left unattended.
• Change your PAC on a regular basis. We suggest every 90-120 days.
• Contact us immediately if you suspect someone has gained knowledge of your PAC. Notification of compromised PAC must be made in writing. Standard email does not employ encryption and other security features. Since standard Internet email does not guarantee confidentiality, we recommend that you not include private or confidential information in such communications.
